Eminent Domain Appraisal
Since the 1970s, DM&A’s professionals have maintained a unique expertise in the valuation of fixtures and equipment and goodwill loss in the context of California Eminent Domain law. We have valued thousands of businesses and business assets statewide in compliance with Section 1263.205 (Improvements Pertaining to the Realty) and Section 1263.510 (Loss of Goodwill). Our experience and knowledge of relevant case law in our specialty appraisal disciplines allows DM&A to provide exceptional service to our clients.
DM&A has been engaged to prepare appraisals for private business owners and numerous public agencies, as well as for right of way professionals and attorneys. As experienced appraisers in this unique field, we can assist with budgetary estimates of exposure, acquisition appraisals prior to litigation, and comprehensive appraisals during litigation. Our professionals have been designated as expert witnesses in numerous eminent domain cases and have participated in depositions, mediations, and jury trials in many of the major jurisdictions in California.
Our professionals take active roles in local chapters of the International Right of Way Association (IRWA) and continually pursue the latest information and education in the field. We are frequent presenters and panelists at eminent domain seminars and luncheons across the state.
We have additional experience preparing fixtures and equipment appraisals in conformance with the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970 for Federally Funded Projects in Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, and Nevada.
